Templates for Different IELTS Question Types

1. Opinion Essay

Structure: Introduction with a clear opinion, Body 1 with reason 1, Body 2 with reason 2, and conclusion.

Useful thesis: I strongly agree with this view because [reason 1] and [reason 2].

2. Discuss Both Views

Structure: Introduction, Body 1 discussing View A, Body 2 discussing View B and your opinion, and conclusion.

Template: This essay will examine both perspectives before explaining why I believe that [your opinion].

3. Advantages and Disadvantages

Structure: Introduction, advantages paragraph, disadvantages paragraph, and conclusion.

Template: Although [topic] offers several benefits, it also has certain drawbacks. This essay will examine both sides.

4. Problems and Solutions

Structure: Introduction, problems paragraph, solutions paragraph, and conclusion.

Template: This essay will examine the main problems associated with [topic] and suggest several possible solutions.

5. Two-Part Question

Structure: Introduction, answer to question 1, answer to question 2, and conclusion.

Make sure you answer both questions directly.
